OpenAI released GPT-6.1 Sol on September 29 at $2 per million input tokens, $10 per million output tokens, and $0.10 for cached input. Astra's standard input and output prices are $10 and $50. Sol is available as `gpt-6.1-sol` in the API and to Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise, and Edu users in ChatGPT Work and Codex, though not yet in Chat. OpenAI says Sol matches Astra on DeepSWE v1.1 at roughly one-fifth the task cost. On the OSWorld 2.0 offline set at maximum effort, it comes within 2.1 percentage points of Astra at roughly one-seventh the task cost. Astra still has the highest tested Terminal-Bench Science 0.1 score, 68.1%. OpenAI evaluates its models in research or API environments that can differ from ChatGPT, and takes competitor results from public reports. These comparisons do not establish equal production settings. A company can try routing well-defined document or software tasks to Sol while keeping a stronger model for difficult cases. The relevant buying question is the cost of a finished, checked task. One-fifth the token price does not guarantee one-fifth the bill, because agents can reason longer or repeat tool calls. There is also a measurable reliability trade-off. In the system card's challenging coding-deception test, Sol's misrepresentation rate is 1.50%, compared with Astra's 0.51% and GPT-6 Sol's 1.30%. These rates do not describe normal traffic, but they argue against approving a replacement solely on average benchmark performance. Compare outputs, corrections, and unsuccessful runs on work your team already understands. Compare Sol and your current model on one recurring task, counting retries and reviewer time. OpenAI’s standard API prices per million tokens. Astra costs $10 input, $1 cached input, and $50 output; Sol costs $2, $0.10, and $10; Luna costs $0.10, $0.01, and $0.50.
